Red Hurricane Cakeroll

I finally made the red hot Hurricane Cakeroll with natural red yeast rice powder! Check out my page for chocolate and matcha versions.

Yolk Batter:

  • 5 egg yolks
  • 55g milk
  • 50g corn oil
  • 60g cake flour

Meringue:

  • 5 egg whites
  • 50g sugar
  • 5g lemon juice

Red Paste:

  • 7g red yeast rice powder
  • 15g hot water

Instructions:

  1. Mix milk and oil, add flour, then yolks.
  2. Beat egg whites with lemon juice and sugar until medium peaks.
  3. Fold meringue into yolk batter.
  4. Mix some batter with red paste.
  5. Pour plain batter in pan, pipe red batter on top, draw lines.
  6. Bake at 150°C for 30 minutes.
  7. Cool, then roll the cake.
